Planet Zoo: African savannah

On the African continent there are many animals that you can also discover in Planet Zoo. Besides the African elephant, there is also the reticulated giraffe, the springbok or the steppe zebra. All these animals prefer a climate of about 8 to 40 degrees and similar soil or plants.

If you want to gather background knowledge about the different species, you can do so in the Zoopedia . You can find it at the top left of the screen. Simply select an item that interests you. So you can learn everything about the attitude, the nature, the preferred biome and much more in the Zoopedia.

Planet Zoo tells you which animals can benefit from which by clicking on the "Species" item. For example, the four animals mentioned earlier are a good match not only in terms of climate, but also in terms of temperament. Another group that is also native to the savannah is the Cape buffalo. They harmonize especially well with sable antelopes, springboks and warthogs. So you can vary them and save space and costs in your zoo at the same time. In addition, you offer the visitors of the zoo more variety and entertainment.

Note, however, that you should not put all animals from the savannah in one enclosure. Even if the African elephant is very sociable and a variety of animal species harmonize with it, you should also cross-check these species. Even if the elephant gets along with the giraffe and warthog, it does not mean that the giraffe and warthog will also like each other. It is definitely worth taking a look at the respective category.

Planet Zoo animal combinations in temperate climate

So that the entire zoo does not consist of desert and hot temperatures, you can build another enclosure from the Asian region. Although many of the animals can also cope with temperatures up to 40 degrees, you should not put them together with the animals from Africa. Many of the Asian species prefer a temperate climate.

Accordingly, an ideal animal combination would be the blue peacock, the armored rhinoceros, and the Indian elephant. Although the latter two can tolerate temperatures up to 40 degrees, the temperature should not exceed 30 degrees. The peacock in particular likes it rather milder and would be uncomfortable in temperatures that are too hot.

Although there are many more species of animals in the temperate climate, they cannot be combined with each other for the most part. Thus, the large as well as small panda, the Japanese macaque and the Bactrian camel are solitary animals.

Who looks for suitable occupation possibilities for the enclosures, which can set over the filter in the trade the respective biome. Since all three animals like a temperate climate, you can choose the same toys for these species. These will significantly lift the mood in the enclosure.

These animal species should not be combined in Planet Zoo

As in real life, there are animals in the zoo simulation that are better kept to themselves. Many of the available animals are loners or hunters and would benefit little from mating. Whoever nevertheless dares to take this step risks not only endangering the weaker animal species, but also the satisfaction of both species. Unhappy animals additionally cause displeasure among zoo visitors and in the worst case can cause demonstrations in front of the enclosure.

The grizzly bear should not be combined with other animal species in Planet Zoo.

So that you know at a glance which animals should rather not be combined with each other, we have compiled a list for you here:

Planet Zoo: More animals since release

Since November 5, 2019, you can look forward to additional animals from other continents. Frontier Developments, which already had great success with Jurassic World Evolution (), had already provided around 30 animals in the beta phase in September.

This number has increased significantly with the official release. Especially in the cold climate and in the rainforest, there are now more animals to choose from. We have compiled an overview of which new animal species have been available since November:

Snakes: Snakes are a must in a real zoo. Planet Zoo provides you with a large selection of different species. In addition to the Abgott snake, you will also find the puff adder, the yellow anaconda, rattlesnake, eastern brown snake and the death adder.

Insects and small animals: Since many visitors will visit you due to your insect diversity, you are also well equipped here with the release. Since November 5, 2019, you will find the Australian large cockroach, giant bird spider as well as wandering spider, Brazilian giant runner as well as hairy desert scorpion as well as agate snail in your zoo.

Mammals: As already hopefully anticipated by many players, you now have access to the western chimpanzee, the lowland gorilla, the spotted hyena, the Bactrian camel, the red var, the armored rhinoceros, the small and large panda, as well as many other species. The mammal category has been expanded the most with Release, offering over 20 new animals.

Reptiles: Since this category was still quite small in the beta phase, Planet Zoo has now increased. A wide variety of iguanas as well as the long-awaited inguinal crocodile are available for selection.

Birds: In the beta phase, you could already choose between the blue peacock and the African ostrich. Now the pink flamingo can also be counted among the birds.
