The tourists are here! Okay, strictly speaking, they've been around for a while in Anno 1800, but now they're coming in droves. The new DLC Travel Time is all about visitors from other islands or faraway countries. Therefore, we will first briefly summarize what you can expect in the eighth expansion and go into more detail later.

  • New population level tourists
  • New buildings - including hotels and restaurants
  • New monumental building
  • New transport system

Other new features in the update, independent of the DLC

Even if you don't own the Travel Time DLC or Season Pass 3, you'll be treated to a few amenities that will affect gameplay:

  • Game speed can be reduced by 50 percent
  • Trees that have been cut down will now grow back
  • You can edit your player profile during the game
  • You can create a queue in the research institute
  • You can send money to other players in the multiplayer mode
  • Revision of the floor plate ornaments

This is how much additional game time you can expect

It will look familiar to you: Once you've started playing Anno 1800, it's hard to stop. The DLC Travel Time is no exception. Before you know it, the day will be over and you'll still be busy building cities. You can easily spend ten hours with the new expansion. It's not that easy to meet the new requirements in the add-on. You'll have to do much more than just make a few tourists happy. It's quite possible that you'll have to throw your entire infrastructure overboard and rebuild it. We'll explain why in the next section.

In the Travel Time DLC, new buildings await you - including restaurants and hotels.

Tips for the Travel Time DLC of Anno 1800

Satisfy your tourists

The tourist quay has already brought tourists to your islands in the past. But with the new DLC, they'll flock to you in droves. Of course, as a good host, you don't want to scare them away, but rather make their stay pleasant. You thought the investors had exquisite and fancy tastes? Then wait until you meet the tourists.

There are nine needs that you must fulfill and ten factors that will satisfy tourists. Make your city as attractive as possible so that visitors feel comfortable and come back. But how do you do it?

The more attractive you make your city, the more tourists will visit your island.

Build the right buildings

In order to keep your tourists from leaving, you need to build a variety of new buildings for them. Among them are Hotels, restaurants, cafés and bars. Especially the hotel construction could cost you some nerves, since the building with nine by seven fields takes up quite a bit of space. Sure, you can build one near the harbor. However, some tourists want to spend the night where the hustle and bustle is: in the city center.

You'll have to move a few buildings back and forth to make room for the hotel. A total of 500 guests can stay there.

Without a hotel on your island, tourists will quickly leave.

To ensure that your visitors don't get bored, you should also offer them plenty of places to go out in the form of restaurants and cafés. The special thing about it: In Anno 1800 there is now a recipe system. This means that you choose what is served in the restaurants. There are simple dishes, in which regional ingredients such as pork and potatoes are used, or more fancy meals. For this you may have to import some food.

At least there is an advantage to playing Tetris with the residential buildings on your island: Placing restaurants and bars between the residential quarters will give your residents bonuses to certain needs. If there is a restaurant or bar in the neighborhood, the islanders in the area of influence consume less bread or fish, for example.

Decide which dishes you want to serve to your guests.

New raw materials and goods

For all the innovations that will find their way into Anno 1800, new raw materials and products are also needed. Accordingly, there are two new production facilities. First of all, there is the orchard. There you can decide for yourself what you want to grow. Everything else is done by the gardeners themselves. As a product you will receive, for example, jam, which you can give directly to tourists.

You build the orchard and decide what to grow, the gardeners do the rest.

Or you can give the products to the new chemical factories. In them you can produce three products: Lemonade, Souvenirs and Shampoo. And for each of them you need at least one product from the orchards. So you can't avoid building both production facilities.

In the chemical factory you can produce products like shampoo, souvenirs or lemonade.

Send your tourists around the city by buses

Tourists like to be comfortable. Instead of exploring your island on foot and walking from the museum to the zoo, they prefer to be driven around by bus. So at certain intervals you will have to build bus stops of two by three squares. However, it is important where you place them. They should be in the direct radius of sights, otherwise they will not be visited by tourists. Who wants to walk several kilometers from the bus stop to the zoo?

Also, keep an eye on the range of your bus network. You can tell if the distance between the bus stops is sufficient and not too far by the green coloring of the streets. But also make sure that your tourists can always make stops, because they have little desire to drive from one end of the island to the other just to visit a restaurant.

Buses will get your tourists from A to B quickly and comfortably.

Last but not least: the monumental building

The crowning glory of your DLC adventure is the construction of a monument. In three sections, you'll build the largest building in Anno 1800 to date: the Iron Tower - which certainly doesn't look like the Eiffel Tower by chance.

The tower also houses a noble restaurant that serves only the finest dishes. The trick is that the more tourists you attract to the Iron Tower and the restaurant, the larger your sphere of influence will become. And that has an impact on your entire population, who receive bonuses as a result.

Yes, it looks like the Eiffel Tower, but it's just called the Iron Tower
