Dying Light 2 Transmitter Decision: Who gets to spark?

In this quest guide to Dying Light 2 you will learn:

  • Where to find the grappling hook (grappling hook)
  • How to reach the main building of the VNC tower
  • How to install the transmitter
  • What the consequences of the transmitter decision are

In Dying Light 2: Stay Human you are between the fronts: Peacekeepers and survivors want to seize power over Villedor, and you are supposed to help the opposing camps. In doing so, you'll have to make some decisions that will have a lasting impact on the game world. One of the most important decisions in Dying Light 2 is the one about accessing the transmitter of the VNC tower. We will show you the consequences.

Which quest starts the transmitter decision in Dying Light 2?

You make the transmitter decision during the story quest "Transmission". To do this, you have to leave Old Villedor behind and reach the central ring. This quest series starts in the Bazaar with The Only Way Out and leads you to the Central Ring via the Water Tower Decision.

Starting with the Transmission quest, the Peacekeepers set up a base in the VNC Tower, the tallest building in Dying Light 2. First, you'll need to restore power and meet up with Rowe. We enter the dangerous zone after spending the night at the bonfire with Rowe's men and riding the elevator.

Dying Light 2: Find grappling hooks

Equip yourself with ranged weapons like the bow or throwing knives. After the short cutscene, you will find yourself in the elevator. Carefully go outside and inspect the corpse. After that, infected people and explosive bolters will rush towards you. Try to hit them from a distance. If the bolters explode near you, it will quickly become deadly. On the right side of the hall is a spitter. Shoot an arrow into the gas canisters and the explosion will eliminate some infected. Kill the rest.

Afterwards, collect the dog tags from the corpses and look for Rowe between the wooden crates opposite the elevator. After that you will have to fight off another wave of infe cted. Then climb over the wooden crates near the elevator and open the door. Climb through the shaft on the ceiling and turn left under the yellow lamp. In the wall is the grappling hook.

The grappling hook is stuck in an elevator shaft in the wall.

This is how you reach the main building of the VNC tower

Use the grappling hook to make your way to the roof terrace. From there you have to get into the main building in the west. After the cutscene turn around and climb onto the small building with the solar panels and the crane on the roof. On the left of the crane is a control panel. Press it and the crane will move a yellow steel beam to the right. Aiden can use the grapple to swing into the main building.

The roof of the VNC tower is the highest point in Dying Light 2, so the climb is correspondingly airy.

Dying Light 2: Set up transmitter and activate sector antenna

Once you have finally made it to the roof of the tower, you still have to climb a transmitter mast. Instead of climbing the mast directly, move to the right and cross the slope with the solar panels. Use the grappling hook to reach the roof.

In the container in the safety zone you'll find a lot of loot, like the artifact hammer "Smash". Then climb over the crates onto the transmission tower. With the grappling hook and Aiden's parkour skills you can reach the mast in the north. You can shimmy to the top by the yellow attachments and activate the transmitter.

You will need to climb this transmitter antenna to install the transmitter in Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2: Who should I give the transmitter to?

Once you've reached the top of the transmission tower and activated the transmitter, you'll have to make a momentous decision. There are basically two options: Leave the transmitter to the Peacekeepers and Matt Jack, or leave it to Frank and the survivors.

If you previously decided to help Juan and get information about Mia in contrast, the peacekeeper option changes from Matt Jack to Juan. No matter what you decide, the Dying Light 2 trophy "We will be heard!" is yours for sure.

CAUTION: In the following paragraph you will read some heavy story spoilers.

Now it's time for the nitty-gritty: the transmitter decision in Dying Light 2.

Consequences of giving the transmitter to Jack Matt

This option will only appear if you chose Jack Matt over Juan before the quest in Fish Eye. If you leave the transmitter to Jack Matt, the Peacekeepers will take over the radio and flood the city with propaganda. Later, you'll have to help Matt amplify the signal and meet a character important to the story. Towards the end of the story, an air strike occurs. However, the Peacekeepers will not use the radio to warn the population and many people die.

Consequences of leaving the transmitter to Juan

This option will only appear if you choose Juan over Jack Matt before the quest in the Fish Eye. In essence, choosing Juan is choosing the Peacekeepers, and the consequences that follow remain mostly the same. With the exception that you install a chip in the transmitter for Juan, making it easier for him to spy on the Peacekeepers.

Consequences of leaving the transmitter to Frank

This option is always available, no matter what you decided before the quest. If you leave the transmitter to Frank and the survivors, the former Nightrunner will found "New Hope Radio". Again, you'll have to boost the signal later on, so you'll encounter a key character. Only Frank is able to warn the population about the impending air attack via the radio and thus save many lives.
