Elden Ring: Sellen - Solve Quest & Find Legendary Sorcery

Sellen has a quest in Elden Ring that is especially interesting for spell builders. In the course of the adventure, you'll come across powerful Shimmerstone spell s and get caught in the middle of an old rivalry. We'll show you how to open the many magical secret passages and successfully complete Sellen's quest.

Sorceress Sellen: First encounter in Limgrave

Sorceress Sellen has holed up in the basement of the ruins of a waypoint in Limgrave. The ruins are located east of Lake Agheel. Descend the stairs and you'll first get into a small boss fight with the pumpkin head, but it shouldn't be much of a challenge. Once the boss is defeated, the door to Sellen's lair opens. Talk to the sorceress and she will teach you the art of shimmerstone magic and sell you some spells. However, her actual quest starts much later in the game.

East of Lake Agheel you will meet Sorceress Sellen for the first time

Start the quest for Sorceress Sellen

Before you can start the quest series for Sorceress Sellen, you have to meet the ancient sorcerer Azur. He squats north of the hermit village in Gelmir. You can reach the area by uncovering and crossing the dark side of House Vulcan during Rya's quest. Then ride once completely counterclockwise around the volcano.

Just before Azur's location, a horde of half-humans and the mini-boss Half-Human Queen Maggie appear. Defeat them. After that, you'll meet the wizard right at the Mercy Site. Interact with him to get the Azure's Comet spell and show it to Sellen. Talk to her about Azure and her story and accept her offer. She will hand you the Sellian Sealbreaker.

Find Sellia's Lair and Master Lusat

According to Sellen, Master Lusat hangs out at a place called Sellia in Caelid. To find out Sellia's secret and open the gate in the Mage City, read our guide to Millicent's Quest. From the alleys of Sellia, continue east up the hill, past the Church of the Plague, and north through the graveyard.

Just before the rock wall to the east, a mage-warrior stands in front of a large tombstone that looks like a small castle. Kill him and go straight from there towards the rock wall. With a blow into the inconspicuous wall you destroy the illusion and open the entrance to the secret dungeon "Sellia's Lair".

Open the Magic Seal and get Legendary Sorcery

Run straight ahead in the cave until you come to the supposed end of the path. You will now stand in front of some large crystals and a corpse with a Golden Rune. Hit the wall behind it to to open the next magical secret passage. After the miner you will reach the next supposed end. Hit the wall again and continue.

Next you'll come to a deep gorge with a huge crystal towering over it. Use it as a bridge and continue to the right at the end. Go east and at the end of the path jump over the cliff onto the large crystal. Watch out for the attacking snails. Now look north and you will see a magic seal. Drop down, kill the wizard and open the seal with Sellens Sellian Sealbreaker. Talk to the lingering Master Lusat and you will get the legendary spell "Stars of Ruin".

Fulfill Sellen's request and get the spell "Insidious Splinter

Return to Sellen and show her the spell you found. She will reward you with a Starlight Shard. After that, she will ask you to visit her body on the Peninsula of Tears. Travel to the northwest of the peninsula to the fourth church of Marika. Southwest of it are the witch curse ruins.

Go down the stairs there and open the door to the dungeon. On the right by the remains lies the spell "Insidious Shard" and Sellen hangs tied to the wall. She will give you the key object "Sellen's Primal Shimmerstone". After that talk to her again. She talks about the fact that someone might want to kill her.

Meet Jerren the Witch Hunter in Red Mane Castle

The next step is to defeat the fragment bearer boss Radahn, the Star Scourge at Castle Redmane in Caelid and then return to the throne room in the castle square. Exhaust the dialogue with Witch Hunter Jerren and return to the Witch Ruins. Again, go through all the dialogue options with the Witch Hunter and then travel to Caria's estate in Liurnia.

Sellen and Jerren are old acquaintances. For the sorceress, however, the reunion does not have a pleasant ending.

Uncover the secret passage in Three Sisters

Enter the area "Three Sisters", where the towers of Renna and Rannis are located. Pretty much in the middle between the towers, a long staircase leads into a ruin. At the top lurks a single enemy. Shoot him and roll between the columns on the ground to uncover a secret passage.

Run down the stairs into the hidden library. A message shimmers in the southwest corner. Interact with it and Seluvis will appear. Go past the crystals on the left and hit the wall. Another secret room opens where you will encounter a motionless body. Use Sellen's Primal Shimmer Stone and you'll speak to an old acquaintance. After that, Sellen stays here for the time being and serves as a magic teacher again.

Between the pillars lies a magical secret passage. Roll over it once and it will open.

Complete Sellen's quest: All possible endings

If you haven't already done so, now defeat fragment carrier boss Rennala in the Raya Lucaria Academy. Leave the academy and return to the boss arena right after. There is now a red and a yellow call sign in front of the entrance door.

You decide which end Sellen's quest will take.

Quest end per Sellen & consequences

The yellow call sign summons Sorceress Sellen and leads to the fight against Witch Hunter Jerren. You receive the Eccentric's armor set and Sellen rewards you with the weapon Shimmerstone Cris. Afterwards, Sellen stands triumphant in the library while Rennala has disappeared.

Rest in a place of grace and return to find the Queen of the Full Moon back in her rightful place. Sellen, on the other hand, you will meet among the stacks of books in a slightly deformed form. However, she is still available to you as a magic teacher. In addition, the witch's Shimmerstone Crown lies next to her.

Quest end per Jerren & Consequences

The red call sign summons Witch Hunter Jerren and leads to the battle against Sorceress Sellen. You will receive Sellen's Sound Pearl, which will allow you to continue learning her spells at the Maiden's Cloaks in the Round Table Fortress, and the Witch's Shimmerstone Crown.

Jerren will give you an Ancient Dragonsmith's Stone in thanks, which you can use to upgrade weapons in Elden Ring. If you have your eye on Jerren's armor, you can kill him to get it.
