Days Gone: Crafting System - All about materials, blueprints and equipment

This guide to Days Gone shows you:

  • How the crafting system works
  • What ingredients are available
  • What kind of blueprints you can find

In Days Gone you will have to deal with hostile humans and zombie-like Freakers. It goes without saying that you'll have to fight back. That's why the PlayStation 4-exclusive adventure also features a crafting system.

How exactly this works, which materials you can find and which construction plans you can implement, we'll show you in our guide.

1. Days Gone: How the crafting system works

One simple tip applies to the entire game: collect all the resources you can carry. You will almost always need them. With bottles, rags and kerosene you can make your own Molotov cocktails, and with buckshot you can repair weapons and your motorcycle.

In short: You should always take materials with you and process them directly if possible, because used resources make room for new ones. You can only carry a certain amount, like ten units of scrap at the beginning. You can double the inventory space by using the ability "Carry your pack".

If you hold down L1 in the running game, a ring menu opens. Here you select a category with the right stick, for example melee weapons. Then you can upgrade them with your resources, for example. You can also make medicine in this way.

The ring menu pops up on the right. Here you can upgrade your weapons and create new medicine.

Alternatively, you can swipe left on your controller's touchpad to access the inventory menu. However, you will always need the appropriate construction plans. You'll get them as a reward for completing main and side missions.

However, you can't produce everything: Grenades, ammunition and more can either be found in the world, just like resources, or bought in the various warehouses.

2. All resources in Days Gone

Resources are always lying around near cars, in houses or buildings. Use your instinct by pressing the right stick, and Days Gone will show you all the materials around - but only if they are hidden behind a wall. So always keep your eyes open as well.

The exception is the plants, which you'll find wherever something can grow. However, thanks to skills in the survival skill tree, the game conveniently marks them on the minimap.

The white icons on the minimap indicate plants - provided you have the necessary skill.

All materials at a glance

These resources can be found all over the world. Not all of them are suitable for crafting, but they can still be used. For example, you can't use the silencer, but you can put it on your weapons.

  • Beer bottle
  • Sterilizer
  • Airbag
  • Alarm clock
  • Can
  • Box with nails
  • Handgun silencer
