Beastmaster FL4K from Borderlands 3 enjoysgreat popularity among players. His animal compan ions make him reminiscent of a hunter from World of Warcraft. However, this comparison can be made not only because of his pet. The ease with which he glides through the level phase in single player is also reminiscent of the pet class from the MMORPG.

In our guide you will learn which builds are the best for FL4K and which skills you should definitely use. In addition, we have provided you with an overview of the effects and advancements of his companions. If you prefer to play with the Siren, you can find the best Borderlands 3 Amara builds and skills in our guide. You can find the best builds for Agent Zane and for Gunner Moze in the linked guides.

Borderlands 3 FL4K: These companions are available for you to choose from

The three talent trees each offer you a different companion. As a hunter, a Spiderant is available to you. The Skag is available in the Master talent tree and a Jabber is available in the Stalker talent tree. Each species can evolve into one of two stronger forms, which are suitable for different builds and situations due to their effects.

The basic forms are available to you immediately. For the first evolution, you must invest at least 10 points in a talent tree. After spending 15 talent points in a skill tree, you will unlock the second evolution. You can use passive talents to improve your companions beyond their development.

The skag as a companion offers these developments and effects

  • Guard Skag (Basic Form)
The Guard Skag is an acid-spitting companion that attacks more from a distance and increases your damage by five percent.

  • Great Horn Skag (1st evolution)
    Evolving
into the Great Horn Skag, the skag becomes a melee fighter, charging at your enemies and knocking them into the air. In addition to the five percent increase in damage, your weapon damage now increases by 10 percentage points.
  • Eridian Skag (2nd Evolution)
Through Singularity, the Eridian Skag draws enemies to him and engages them in melee combat. Your rate of fire and damage each increase by five percent with this skag evolution.

The Jabber comes with these effects and evolutions

  • JabberBuddy (Basic Form)
The Jabber Buddy has a pistol and also throws radiation barrels at his enemies, dealing radiation damage. He also increases your movement speed by five percent.

  • Muscle Jabber (1st evolution)
With the evolution to Muscle Jabber, the pistol becomes a shotgun. Your attack command causes a Musclehead Jabber melee weapon to appear, knocking back your enemies. In addition to five percent movement speed, your maximum health also increases by 10 percent.
  • Weapon Jabber (2nd evolution)
The Gun Jester Jabber is a ranged fighter through and through. The Gun Jabber also throws away his pistol and replaces it with an SMG. On your attack command he gets a rocket launcher and puts your enemies under a lot of pressure with it. In addition to the increased movement speed, you get a five percent increase in critical hit damage.

The Spiderant will buff you with the following effects and enhancements

  • SpiderantCenturion (base form)
The Spiderant's base form increases your health regeneration by one percent of your maximum health per second. The Spiderant-Centurion fights in melee and charges at your enemies.

  • SpiderantSmiter (1st Evolution)
The Spiderant Smiter grants you 10 percent increased elemental damage in addition to health regeneration. In addition, the brazier temporarily incinerates nearby enemies. The sprint to enemies from the base form remains.
  • Spiderant Countess (2nd Evolution)
The Spiderant Countess digs her way to her target, dealing area corrosion damage as she emerges. A five percentage point damage reduction is added to the base form's health regeneration.

Borderlands 3 FL4K Build: The Rakkregen

Highlights of the Rakkregen: Rakkregen over your enemies, very high damage to single targets, high critical hit chance, good starter skill for new level 50 characters
Skill trees: stalker & hunter
Link to the build: The Rakkregen

We recommend the Rakkregen build to all beastmasters who have just reached the maximum level and have little equipment. Despite poor equipment, this build will deal comparatively high damage to your enemies. This way, you'll be well equipped for most situations, so you'll be able to get good equipment as quickly as possible.

The lack of scalability is the biggest weakness of the build. Once you switch your talents to the Rakkregen, you won't do much more damage even with better equipment. "Grim Harvest" remedies this a bit, providing 15 percent more action skill damage.

While fights against groups of enemies are tedious due to the lack of area damage, focused enemies die much faster. This is due to the high damage to individual targets, which is boosted by the talents "Interplanetary Stalker", "Dangerous Game", "Frenzied Attack" and "Galactic Shadow". Especially at the beginning of a fight, the damage done is significantly increased.

This is due to the talents "The Power Within" and "Fleet and Fluffy". They increase your damage significantly as long as you have full health. For this reason, dodging enemy projectiles is especially important.

The Rakkregen Build Item List

Below is the list of the best equipment for the Rakkregen build. Lucian's Call and Rowen's Call are the best choices for the main weapon, as the ricocheting projectiles will at least occasionally hit multiple enemies. This at least partially makes up for the lack of area-of-effect damage.

The regenerating ammo of both weapons is also extremely useful, as it allows you to fire for longer periods at a time without reloading. Crossroad is also a very strong alternative to the two weapons. It deals an enormous amount of damage in a short time after using the Rakk attack.

Crossroad is also suitable for the third and fourth weapon slots, as long as it has a different elemental effect than your other weapons. This way, you can cover the weaknesses of all enemies and deal a lot of damage with some strategic play. In our ultimate beginner's guide to Borderlands 3 you can learn everything about the strengths of the different elements.

Note: The "Important values" table indicates which values on the item have the highest priority. This is to make it easier for you to compare two items.

Borderlands 3 FL4K Build: The Beam Man

Highlights of the Radiant: Specializes in Radiant damage, strong against enemy masses, good for co-op games thanks to tank companion, high defense
Skill trees: Master & Stalker
Link to build: The Radiant Man

With this skill, you specialize in the synergy between high Radiant damage, the Gamma Volley action skill, and the Great Horn Skag. The radiant effect guarantees high area damage that will sweep enemy masses off the screen even on the highest difficulty.

A big plus is your companion, who keeps the enemies at bay in many situations as a tank. In co-op, your teammates will benefit from both your tank skag and your healing effects. This makes you a welcome member in any group.

Due to the specialization on area damage, tank companions and healing effects, damage against individual targets comes up short. This is compensated for in co-op by teammates, but in solo play it is more difficult to defeat bosses than with damage-based skills like the Maliwan Takedown solo build in Borderlands 3.

Still, you and especially your companion deal enough damage. The core talents "Who Saved Who?", "Mutated Defense" and "Stacking Tactics" also increase your defense.

The item list for the radiant build

Pestilance is the best weapon for this build due to the overheat effect. When overheated, the pistol emits a radiation aura that irradiates nearby enemies. This makes the Elemental Projector artifact even more effective. If you already have a self-triggering radiation aura, switch to a more powerful main weapon that also deals radiation damage.

Base your choice on the maximum weapon damage. The build is designed to kill enemies at medium to long range. Assault rifles are particularly effective at this range. Rowan's Call and Laser-sploder are therefore strong choices for the second weapon slot, but can also be replaced with your favorite Radiation weapon.

Your third weapon should be a weapon type you don't already use. This prevents ammo shortages before. Also, be sure to have a weapon available that has an element other than radiation. Use it in your fourth weapon slot and round out the build with it, as Radiation damage does little damage against heavily armored units.
