This year, the FIFA 20 demo was released on September 10, 2019, at 16:00 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The almost 7 GB test version you download in a few minutes from the Playstation Store (PS4), Xbox Store (Xbox One) or Origin Store (PC). A slimmed-down version of FIFA 20 will be released for the Nintendo Switch anyway, so there will be no demo version.

VOLTA and Champions League: The contents of the FIFA 20 demo at a glance

You won't find FC Bayern Munich in the FIFA 20 test version. Due to the exclusive deal between the German record champion and Konami, the Bavarians are not included in the FIFA 20 demo, as you can read in our FIFA 20 Licenses & Teams Guide.

The kick-off mode is available in the FIFA 20 demo. Choose this variant to play a match in the UEFA Champions League group stage. The following six teams are available in the FIFA 20 demo:

  • Paris St. Germain (France)
  • Real Madrid (Spain)
  • Tottenham Hotspur (England)
  • Borussia Dortmund (Germany)
  • Chealsea FC (England)
  • Liverpool FC (England)

Furthermore the FIFA 20 demo offers first insights into the new VOLTA mode . A 3 vs. 3 match is played in an underpass in Amsterdam, so that you can practice your first tricks on the small field. You will compete with the team Vinicius' Crew, consisting of Jayzinho, Vinicius Jr. and Hehakaija. Your opponents are the Street Kings, who don't have any famous players in their lineup.

Unfortunately, the FIFA 20 demo doesn't include an online mode. However, there is a trick how you can play the FIFA 20 demo in online multiplayer against a friend.

Play the FIFA 20 demo against friends online co-op: This is how it works

Although the test version of FIFA 20 is not intended for online play, it is possible for PS4 players. The basic requirement for the online co-op is, besides the console, a stable Internet connection, whereby it is best to have the relevant ports open. Otherwise, it's enough if you or your buddy start the demo and switch to the kick-off mode. When choosing a side, press the PS button and invite your friend to a party. Then you start the Share Play function (right).

Continue with the option "Hand over controller to visitor" and the subsequent confirmation "Play game together". This way, at least PS4 owners can enjoy playing the FIFA 20 demo via Share Play in online co-op. From now on, both players will be displayed when selecting a side in kick-off mode. With Share Play, you can at least play together for an hour until you open a new session with the same scheme.

How to play the FIFA 20 full version before release

If you are not a fan of test versions, you can also play the full version of FIFA 20 before the official release. If you play the soccer simulation on the PC and are an Origin Access Premier member, the download will be available on September 18th. Console players can secure early access via the EA Access membership.

The so-called Play First Trial version of FIFA 20 for PS4 and Xbox One will also start on September 18 via EA Access. It includes all the features and innovations of the main game, but the playing time is limited to ten hours. You can enjoy FIFA without a subscription if you choose the FIFA 20 Ultimate or Champions Edition (). Here, the official kick-off is already on September 24 - three days before the official release.
