There are some strong bosses waiting for you in Code Vein. You can find out how to get to them in our Code V ein walkthrough, which will guide you through the action RPG. For most of them, your victory will be rewarded with a trophy and an appropriate Gamerscore. You can also find a trophy guide for Code Vein here.

You might have an easy time with some of the bosses. But with some of them you will quickly start to sweat. In this guide, we'll tell you what the special features of the individual bosses are and how you can use them to your advantage.

1. Boss fight in Code Vein: Oliver Collins

You can find Oliver Collins at the end of the underground of the ruins of the city. The peculiarity of your first boss is that the fight is divided into two different phases. In the first phase he fights against you with a hammer. He strikes slowly and with long pauses, so you can easily dodge and attack him before he recovers.

Once you have robbed him of half his life, Oliver Collins turns into a foul creature. His attacks are still slow, but they are more wide-ranging than before. This makes it harder to dodge and get to him. Blocking is not a good idea, as his attacks defiantly deal damage.

When he raises his hand, immediately roll back and dodge him. He then launches a powerful area attack - the Blood Explosion. Our tip: use the Bayonet of the Lost, which fires five bullets in a row. Since Collin's second form is very large, you'll have an easy time hitting him.

2. Code Vein Boss: Butterfly of Delirium

You will encounter the Butterfly of Delirium in the center of the ruins of the city. Bring plenty of antidote to the fight, as almost every attack of hers can poison you or your partner.

The range of their attacks is very long, and it won't do you any good to flee to the other side of the battlefield. Therefore, always be ready to dodge. When she forms her wings into a ball, immediately roll in the opposite direction, as she will fire a poison gas cloud.

If she fires multiple poison gas balls, block them to ward them off. A single poison gas ball, on the other hand, will chase you, leaving you no choice but to flee until it disappears. If the Butterfly of Delirium takes enough damage, it will fall to the ground and you will have a clear path to attack or enough time to heal.

3. Code Vein Boss: Insatiable Despot

The Insatiable Despot is waiting for you in the Desiccated Trenches. Just like Oliver Collins, he has two phases in the fight. First he strikes with his two daggers . His attacks are strong, but you can easily fend them off.

They also give you the opportunity to launch counterattacks. The Insatiable Despot is able to summon more enemies, which you should finish off immediately. As soon as you minimize his life to half, he rams his daggers into the ground, pulls the spear out of his chest and forms a battle axe from it.

This increases the range of his attacks enormously. You won't be safe from his attacks even behind his back, so you should avoid his attacks. Try to land some hits between his blows here as well, since his new weapon slows him down and thus provides enough room for counterattacks.

4. Code Vein Boss: Penetrating Executioner

In the Howling Pit, you'll make the acquaintance of the Penetrating Executioner. She can slow you down, which in turn affects your dodges. She is quick with her attacks. As soon as she climbs up to her spear, quickly run away and block, as she will create a whirlwind that will hit you even at a long distance.

With her spear, she can rush from one side of the battlefield to the other with lightning speed. You should try to block these attacks to protect yourself from her powerful spear. When she starts an attack, she usually performs a combination of several attacks, swinging her spear around.

As soon as you get close to her, she will stomp you to the ground with her pointed legs. However, if at any point she sinks to the ground herself, take the chance to attack or run to safety to heal yourself.

5. Code Vein Boss: Silver Wolf Berserker

The Silver Wolf Berserker defends the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood like a bulwark. He is very vulnerable to back attacks and also his slow attacks make it easy for you to dodge him. He only uses combos that consist of one or two punches.

Dodge and use the delays of his attacks to pounce on him. If he collects red energy around his body, he will strengthen his attacks even more. Then blocking will be of no use to you and you will have to rely on a dodging strategy. Circle the Silver Wolf Berserker to give him some effective blows in the back, bringing him to his knees and buying you some time for possible healing.

6. Code Vein Boss: Knight of the Queen

The Queen's Knight is a part of your protagonist's memory. He is, like most of his predecessors, rather slow, but very strong. Dodging his attacks shouldn't cause you any problems. Besides, you can expect a maximum of three attacks per combo. You can take advantage of the delay between his blows to land many hits in a row, even with heavy weapons.

As soon as the Queen's Knight jumps into the air, you'll dodge. He will damage you if you try to block. He can move quite quickly across the battlefield. As a ranged fighter, you should still be careful and keep an eye on your opponent.

7. Code Vein Boss: Successor to the Chest

Once again inside the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood, a wolf-like creature awaits you - the Successor of the Chest. This boss does great damage with ranged spells, but is weak in physical defense and has little health. At the beginning of the fight, reduce the distance between you and the Chest Successor.

You'll make use of the pillars in the room by taking shelter behind them as soon as she starts casting a spell. You should still be ready to block or dodge additionally, because her fire spells are able to penetrate the pillars. If blue or red circles appear on the ground, roll out of them quickly to avoid being hit by fire or lightning magic.

When you get close enough to them, attack them until the ground under you glows orange. Then take flight again. The successor of the chest will perform a long-range attack and teleport to the other end of the room. Once you have defeated her, a cutscene will follow and you will have to fight her again.

In the second fight against her, follow the same tactics as before. Hide behind the pillars and deal out properly as soon as you get close to them. This way you should easily get through the second round.

8. Code Vein Boss: Successor of the Breath

You will meet the Successor of Breath in the Ridge of Icy Souls. He strikes with his huge shield and uses his antlers like a fighting stag. His attacks are fast and strong, so it makes the most sense to avoid them. If he rams his antlers into the ground, you'll have a short window of opportunity to land some hits, as long as you're behind his back.

When he gets down on his knees, you can also give him a few hits. The red energy around his hand should encourage you to dodge, as he will then fire an ice blast. After the Successor of Breath loses half his life, he throws away his shield and goes on the offensive.

He is now much faster his. Among other things, he wields an ice sword that deals a lot of damage over a large radius. If he jumps into the air, block his attack to avoid heavy damage. This is how you'll deal with this colossus as well.

9. Code Vein Boss: Gilded Hunter

You will meet the Gilded Hunter in the ash cave. He fights with a halberd that he swings over his head. With this attack, it is ineffective to block. When he raises his hand and red energy appears, pull back and block to avoid his ranged spell.

To attack, he takes longer than most bosses. Just be patient and wait for him to finish his attack. Then you'll have a clear path to deal damage to him.

10. Code Vein Boss: Successor of the Claw

In the city of the rain of flames you will duel with the successor of the claw. She attacks you with fast blows and long-range spells. One of her spells creates three fireballs. If they miss you, they become a ring of flames.

Her melee attacks are relatively weak and you can easily dodge them. However, if she starts gathering fire in her body, keep your distance to avoid being hit by her flame blast. When she does a backflip, she drops some mines that explode.

If the successor of the claws grabs her sword, immediately go on the defensive. She launches a quick attack that you will have a hard time dodging. If she pauses, you have a chance to place a few hits.

11. Code Vein Boss: Successor of the Throat

The Sand Crown offers you another boss - The Successor of the Throat. She sticks her hands into the ground and can use them to summon claws out of the sand. Keep running or dodge them to avoid getting hit.

The Successor of the Throat can fire extremely powerful sand blasts, but moves rather slowly and focuses on a single enemy. You can play defensively and send your partner on the offensive to deal damage. Once she changes her focus, you'll switch roles.

12. Code Vein Boss: Blade Bearer and Cannoneer

Probably the most difficult fight in Code Vein awaits you in the crypt top. There are bosses that can clearly dish out or take more damage, but the fact that your opponents are fighting in doubles makes this duel so challenging. As if that weren't enough, they are also very nimble in their defense.

Together, they'll go after a single one of you to dish out their attacks from behind. You'll therefore need to keep both opponents in sight at all times. The gunner acts with slow strikes and uses a flamethrower that deals a lot of damage. However, he is very vulnerable to back attacks.

His most dangerous attack is a column of flame that rises from the ground as soon as he raises his hand. If you're careless, you'll be killed quickly, since this attack doesn't announce itself soon enough. The blade bearer, on the other hand, strikes quickly and powerfully.

It is possible to block her attacks, but it requires good timing and only leaves her vulnerable for a few seconds. Her ice spells are slower and less dangerous compared to her blade. The best way to go against them is to first take out the gunner by exploiting his weak spots on his back. After that, it's easier to focus on the blade bearer.

13. Code Vein Boss: Juzo Mido

After defeating the Bladebearer and the Gunner, another battle awaits you in the Crypt Spire against Juzo Mido. He wears heavy armor and is therefore a slower type of enemy. You can block or dodge his sword blows. Then attack him from behind as usual.

Once his life is halved, his sword is extended by magic and his attack radius increases. If Juzo Mido casts a spell that summons black orbs, he will remain on the defensive for a longer period of time. These orbs are bombs that explode twice.

14. Code Vein Boss: Reborn Knight of the Queen

In the suburbs of the transitional government, the saying goes: you always see each other twice in life. Thus, you will encounter the Reborn Knight of the Queen, whom you have already struck down in your protagonist's memories. The tactics are basically the same as before.

His new ability is teleportation, where you won't be able to tell where he'll appear next. The best way to deal with it is to dodge to the side, as an overhead attack usually follows. The Queen's Reborn Knight has its shortcomings in the range of its attacks.

If you stand close enough in front of him, some of his attacks won't harm you. The hits he normally scores with his sword only take effect at a further distance. Use this to your advantage to send him to the afterlife for good.

15. Code Vein Boss: Keeper of the Relics

In the center of the transitional government, the guardian of the relics surprises you, looking confusingly like your companion Io. Probably the easiest boss fight in Code Vein awaits you.

The only advice we can give you is to just hit her. She follows the same rules and patterns as your other enemies, except that she has more health. Treat her like any other enemy in Code Vein. Block, dodge her attacks, slash at her properly and you'll defeat her in no time.

16. Code Vein Boss: Skull King

In the Prison of Coagulated Blood, you'll duel with the Skull King. His swords gain range as the duel progresses and can eventually fire energy blasts. Dodge and avoid blocking his attacks.

As soon as he starts collecting red energy, get out of the way before he casts a spell with a large range. The incantation of the spell manifests itself in a longer movement, during which you can recover for a short time. Once you've reached the final phase against the Skull King, he'll use faster and faster attacks in a larger radius.

Dodging and going for single hits is the only way to fight this battle. As soon as you try to use multiple strikes on him, he will wreck you miserably. Timing and patience are required here.

The final boss in Code Vein: The Virgin Birth

The Maidenborn, also in the Prison of Coagulated Blood, is the final boss you'll have to defeat in Code Vein. She prefers to attack with spells that have an enormous range and can take up the entire battlefield. When a blue light appears on the ground, it's time to get to safety.

You will easily dodge their melee attacks, but they are incredibly powerful. The virgin birth fires energy beams that require you to have good timing to dodge. The only way to make it out of this fight alive is to attack her hind legs. There, protected from their attacks, you'll perform your counterattack.

Once you have defeated The Maidenborn halfway, she will begin to glow and fire energy beams at the ground. In this battle, it is helpful to focus especially on defense values and hit points. If your defense is too low, she can knock you down with a single attack.

DLC Boss: Hellfire Knight

The strategy of this fight is to move a lot and stay as close to him as possible. As long as you are behind him, you can attack him calmly and deal some blows. You should also keep trying to roll into him during his tail strikes. Attack until he jumps away again and repeat the process again.

Halfway through his life, he will use an area attack. As soon as he roars, keep your distance from him, because he summons a fire vortex. You'll also recognize it by the "sparkle". You have to dodge the following jump attack as good as possible with a roll. If he uses fire blows, dodge to the left or to the right.

After that, you continue as before. However, in the second phase, new attacks will come your way. He'll attack with flaming swords, which you'll dodge as usual by rolling so that you can get behind him to attack. Use the short time he's on the ground to deal damage or heal yourself. This will make the boss a cinch.
