Borderlands 3 Rampager: Use the entire chamber to protect yourself from him

The fight against Rampager takes place at the end of the quest "Under Meridian" in a huge underground chamber. You must defeat the Rampager to unlock the fourth weapon slot and mine Eridium. The fight doesn't start immediately when you enter the chamber. Take the opportunity to scout it for protection before placing the chamber key. Don't rely on the pillars for this, as he will start destroying them from phase 2.

How to defeat Rampager in Borderlands 3

Be attentive throughout the fight and keep an eye on your surroundings. At irregular intervals, Rampager will fall to the ground, stunned. Maya will draw attention to this with different spells. He doesn't do any damage during this time, so take the chance and fire everything you have at him.

Equip the remaining weapon slots with a fire damage weapon for the first two stages and a cryo weapon for the final stage. All weapons should have a medium range. This will maximize your damage and help you defeat Rampagers faster.

Borderlands 3 Rampager: The three stages of combat

The fight consists of three stages, in which it deals different elemental damage. At 66 percent and 33 percent remaining health, he changes phases. In phase 2 rampager causes corrosion damage and shoots fireball volleys at you. His scream causes debris to fall from the ceiling throughout the room - don't get caught. You can recognize his scream by the white beam and the train-like sound. At the inferno, huge green elemental balls await you, which he fires in all directions.

Fight the mobs first, as they are now stronger and more dangerous. From phase 3 on, this is especially important, as the damage increases enormously. Rampager's jumps are accompanied by showers of fire and ground projectiles at the same time in the final phase. Stay on the platforms if possible and be extra vigilant to avoid getting hit.

Since all the pillars are now destroyed and no longer offer any protection, you'll have to keep an eye on all the projectiles and avoid them. If you have emergency abilities, you should use them at this stage. If possible, stay close to Maya. She will revive you when you are within her range.

• You can occasionally find the light blue spheres in the air above the platforms, they do not attack and are destroyed with one shot.
