Professions in New World: The big crafting guide

Whether blacksmith, cook or stonemason - professions can be learned and practiced in many games. As an MMO, New World is no exception. But how does the crafting system in the game work? This guide will tell you:

  • What professions are available in New World
  • How many you can learn
  • How to craft items

To make it easier for you to get started in the MMO from Amazon Studios, you should first take a look at our tips guide, which provides you with helpful tricks for the first few hours of play.

Allegmeines to the occupation choice in New World

You have a total of 17 disciplines to choose from, which can be divided into three categories: collecting professions, refining professions and manufacturing professions. The good news is that you can learn as many professions as you want. There's nothing to stop you from learning all 17 skills. However, you'll find out at the end of this article whether that makes sense.

To learn professions, you don't have to go to teachers who teach you recipes or anything like that. You simply skill the disciplines by performing them. Chop trees, and with each blow of your axe your skill as a woodcutter will grow. If you make furniture, you will increase your skill as a carpenter. The higher your skill is, the more raw materials you can collect.

Here you can find an overview of all professions and how far you have already leveled them up.

Collecting professions

There are five collectible professions in New World. As the name suggests, they allow you to collect basic resources for further processing. These are mundane materials such as stones, ores, fish, wood or animal skins. For each action you need a suitable tool with which you can mine the resources.

The good thing is that they don't take up unnecessary space in your inventory. Instead, there are six slots in your character window where you can place the tools. While you are mining stone, wood, etc., your character automatically selects the appropriate tool.

The following professions are available, each with the corresponding tools:

Refining professions

As soon as you have collected the raw materials, you can process them with so-called refining professions. To do this, you need to go to the appropriate crafting stations in the settlements. Look at the map, there are the workshops with appropriate icons. Approach the spot, open the menu with E and produce the different products.

Manufacturing professions

Last but not least, there are the manufacturing professions, with which you can process the refined materials into finished products that you can use in everyday life. Once you have the materials in your inventory, go to the production facilities and craft for all you're worth.

How high can I level professions?

Each discipline or profession can be brought to level 200. As your skill increases, you will be able to craft better items. For example, once you get one of the crafting professions to 200, you can craft powerful armor or weapons that are just as good as the items you get in the end-game content.
