Far Cry New Dawn: Expeditions, Elite Animals & Challenges

To avoid boredom, we explain in our guide to Far Cry New Dawn

  • why taking outposts is worthwhile
  • what expeditions bring you
  • what else you can do

Grab your favorite weapon right away and head out again to further discover Hope County. There are still a few challenges awaiting you that need to be mastered. After all, in Far Cry New Dawn you still have all sorts of tasks to fulfill after the main story. They don't have a time limit, so you can complete them either at the very end, after the story , or simply in between.

The Highwaymen are rather less happy to see this unicorn.

1. Recapture outposts

In Far Cry New Dawn, publisher Ubisoft does without towers to climb in order to further uncover the map. Since many players already know Hope County from Far Cry 5, this is probably no longer necessary. Outposts still exist, though.

Once such a place is conquered, some friends and supporters of your alliance move in there. You get ethanol when you capture outposts - if you capture them undetected, you get even more of it. The Highwaymen will only recapture the outpost if you loot it. The next time you capture an outpost it will be more difficult, but in return you will get more ethanol.

2. Complete side missions

The world of Far Cry New Dawn is full of quirky characters with even crazier missions waiting to be discovered by you. During the main quest, you've probably come across a few missions here and there by chance. Now is the time to pay attention to them.

When a side quest is completed, Far Cry New Dawn will give you materials and maybe even a few advantage points. These can be invested in new abilities. You can also learn some exciting background stories about Hope County and discover previously unseen places.

3. Play in co-op

What already worked in Far Cry 5 is now even more fun in Far Cry New Dawn: Co-op! Grab a friend and roam the flowery areas of Hope County together. The prerequisite for this, however, is that your fellow player is on the game - crossplay is not supported. Once this hurdle has been overcome, you can actually start right away.

You can simply select the co-op mode in the menu and invite a friend from the list. No matter how far he or she is in the story. By the way: It's worth creating a new outfit. After all, your partner will see the clothes when you play together, and flaunting a cool look never hurts, right?

However, the game progress is not transferred to the second player. Nevertheless, playing together pays off for both of you. Crafting materials, for example, go into the inventory of you and your buddy. Bonus: Flattening the Highwaymen's biggest bases together with a sawblade launcher or shotgun in your hands really rocks.

4. Expeditions: Bye, bye, Hope County!

If you have collected enough ethanol during the game, your Prosperity base will change over time. The individual stations can level up to offer additional things. For example, you should supply the helicopter station with ethanol. Because the pilot is adventurous and will then take you to the most remote corners.

The higher your level, the more interesting and lucrative the excursions you can make during these expeditions. For example, you won't find a completely new map to explore on the beach, but a previously unseen area. Conquer the outpost there, grab resources and take the helicopter back to Prosperity. Of course with all the items as well as many new experiences in your luggage.

You can undertake these expeditions as a change from the main story, or simply return to Hope County at the end of the game and select the missions from Prosperity. The adventure in Far Cry New Dawn is far from over.

5. Complete all the challenges

If you want to get the game to 100%, need new skills, or just want to spend some more time in Hope County, it's worth taking a look at the challenge menu. Here you will find many activities to pass the time.

Here's where Highwaymen get down to business.

In four different categories everything revolves around fighting, hunting and exploring in the open world. Have you already fished all the fish out of the waters? In addition to skill points, you'll get a lot of materials when you sell them later on. But be careful: You can only carry five fish at a time.

During your travels, you'll have encountered many animals. Besides the normal quadrupeds, there are also mutated versions on the way. They are many times stronger - if you kill them, Far Cry New Dawn will reward you with many materialient. You can also complete some challenges in the first-person shooter with the elite animals, which will bring you closer to a platinum trophy.
