Far Cry New Dawn Guns for Hire Guide: Unlock All Helpers

To survive against the twins, we tell you in our guide to Far Cry New Dawn

  • how to unlock all helpers
  • which abilities they have

In the helper selection you have a total of eight different Guns for Hire at your disposal. They are all very different and can be very helpful in different situations. Very new in Far Cry New Dawn are the Light RPG elements, which also show up in the helpers. This is because they can level up with frequent use and thus learn better abilities.

For example, Nana, the sharpshooter, can shoot through barricades at the highest level. Timber, the replacement for Boomer, is helpful in tracking objects. He can point them through walls. Besides, he is a passable fighter. Judge is also interesting, acting as a silent archer and animal lover.

1. Carmina Rye

Carmina is one of the first characters you meet in Hope County. Already in the opening sequence you can see her on the train. She is available as a helper right from the beginning.

Level 1: Own vehicle
Level 2: She throws one stick of dynamite
Level 3: Throws 3 sticks of dynamite

2. Timber

This cute dog is a quasi replacement for the popular Boomer, who has peacefully fallen asleep over the years. You'll find him in the Fang Center, whose mission you'll have to complete. It is literally thrust into your hands on the street very early in the game and is not far from Prosperity.

Level 1: Retrieves weapons and marks enemies
Level 2: Marks manufacturing materials
Level 3: Intercepts attacking animals

Timber is among the more useful companions.

3. Horatio

Let's stay with the animal companions for a moment. Horatio is a wild boar that you can meet at Elsinore Farm. There you will automatically get a side mission that will lead you directly to the boar. Free him from his precarious situation and he will fight for you from now on.

Level 1: Can break through shields
Level 2: Helps himself up again
Level 3: Angry attacks

4. Pastor Jerome

Jerome is waiting for you at Ramone's View. As a pastor he always has wise words and a loaded gun. He has a side mission in store for you to complete before he willingly joins your team.

Level 1: Own vehicle
Level 2: Throws Molotov cocktails
Level 3: Shoots incendiary ammo

5. Gina Guerra

As soon as the second part of the adventure begins in Hope County, you can accept the mission to Gina. You'll have to help her in an arena before she sees herself as part of your team. She has a lot of firepower with her MP, and she'll also entertain you with her crazy sayings and her hyper personality.

Level 1: Own vehicle
Level 2: Has infinite ammo
Level 3: Shoots explosive ammo

6. Nana

Don't be fooled by the look of the somewhat older lady, because she always hits the bull's eye with her sniper rifle. At her shooting range, you'll first have to prove to the spry pensioner that you're worthy of her. Only then will she support you from a distance with her gun. This makes her the ideal partner for ethanol farming.

Level 1: Is very quiet
Level 2: Can shoot through smoke
Level 3: Can shoot through barricades

7. Judge

This character will join your team during the main story. We don't want to reveal too much about him here, because otherwise we would spoil important story elements for you. But if you want to know more about the masked archer, you should read our guide to Easter Eggs to find out what he is all about.

Level 1: Very quiet on foot
Level 2: Animals do not attack by themselves
Level 3: Shoot three arrows at the same time

8. Hurk

You might already know Hurk from one of the previous parts. He's back in New Dawn as well and has a lot of firepower. He blows up just about everything and obviously has fun doing so. In addition, he always tells crazy stories that entertain you during your journey through Hope County.

Level 1: Own vehicle
Level 2: Can reload faster
Level 3: Bullets track air and ground vehicles

Here's where Highwaymen get it.

9. Especially useful helpers

Although all eight characters certainly have their merits, some helpers are more useful than others. It also depends a bit on the situation. For example, if you have to find the components in the old train cars, Timber is your friend. He shows it even through thick walls and makes this task easier for you.

Nana, on the other hand, can hit safely from a distance, but is often a bit clumsy at large bases and is quickly spotted. On the other hand, if you're trying to stop an ethanol shipment and don't want the truck to blow up from Hurk's attacks, her skills are worth their weight in gold.

Horatio is especially useful when you have a lot to do and can't pay attention to the helper. At the highest level he revives himself and with especially strong attacks he can take out the enemies. For open battles Gina is also worthwhile. At higher levels she has an infinite supply of ammunition and simply mows down the enemies.
