1. The weapon system in Days Gone explained
The first time you look into the weapon cabinet in Days Gone, you will find it empty. If you try to fill it with found pistols, you will probably look puzzled. This is because you can 't store weapons found in the game. They are only meant for short-term shooting.
There are two ways to unlock shooting irons for the gun cabinets stationed in each warehouse. The easiest method is to follow the story. For completing certain story branches you'll receive certain weapons - for example, Boozer's pump shotgun.
Alternatively, you can buy new weapons from three of the five factions. However, you'll have to gain their trust in order to get everything you need. You can exchange the rifles and co. earned in this way at any time at weapons lockers. However, you can find new ammunition at dealers and in every police car.
The exception is the crossbow: you can easily make the bolts yourself, so always collect enough cedar seedlings. Weapons also have a level value from one to five - the higher, the better. Of course, the strongest weapons are only available towards the end of the game.
Besides ranged weapons, there are also some melee weapons. First and foremost is your knife, which can't be broken, but doesn't deal out much damage either. You'll find boards, baseball bats and more along the way, which you can even improve with a bit of crafting. With the right skills, you can even repair your bats.
