  • which endings are possible inthis episode
  • what the consequences of the individual actions are

Life is Strange 2 is a story-heavy game, just like its predecessors. All decisions you make in the course of the story can have an influence on further events. We've already told you about the decision options in the episodes Roads and Rules. Now we're going to talk about Wastelands, the third episode of the game about Daniel and Sean.

Episode 3: All important decisions decoded

Daniel's room

After a brief review of the last two episodes, Wastelands starts back at the two boys' house. Our Life is Strange 2 Easter Eggs guide tells you what there has been to find so far and what you might have missed.

In the house of the Diaz family, you go in search of your little brother. Once you find him, you can choose to headbutt him or use Daniel's arm to punch himself.

No matter what you choose: A figurine on the shelf will break and Sean's dad will give you a telling off. It doesn't matter if you blame Daniel or admit that they both went a little overboard.

Daniel's watch

Sean notices that Daniel is no longer wearing his.

  • If you don't care why he doesn't anymore, the two brothers will go on their way without a conversation.
  • However, if you ask about it, Daniel will explain that he prefers to wear the bracelet Finn gave him after all. He thinks it's cool.

Big Joe beats Cassidy

In the scene with Big Joe you can see him hitting Cassidy on the head.

  • If you decide to intervene & comment, he will bully Sean. Cassidy advises Sean to be careful with rebuttals against Joe.

  • If you ignore the incident, Cassidy will just continue to comply and Sean will not be bullied.

Training with Daniel

The training session of the two brothers, so that Daniel can better control his powers, takes place down by the lake. Go to Daniel and help him control everything better. Grab the acorns and aim well to throw them to Daniel so that he hits them in the air. Also, the younger brother will target the stones by the lake. Here you can choose to hit the mushrooms growing there as well.

The lake is a good place to look for collectibles. We'll tell you which ones you can find where and when in this guide to collectibles.

Finn and the Joint

In the camp Finn offers you to draw from his joint. The decision for or against the marijuana strongly influences Daniel's reaction to it.

  • As a big brother, you can refuse it and be a great role model for him.
  • If you accept the offer and take a good drag of the drug, Daniel will want to do the same.

Sean's haircut

Sean's hair are an important theme in the third episode. They are simply too shaggy and much too wild. Fortunately, Cassidy (or Finn) can remedy this and cast a spell - at least if you want to.

  • Daniel will slowly want to sleep and if he goes to the tent, you have the opportunity to follow him and chat for a long time.

  • If you stay with the group, Sean's hair will be cut and he will get a new hairstyle.

But be careful: A new look looks great, but taking Daniel to bed (or tent) and talking to him will improve the relationship between the two of them.

By the way, you don't have to get the haircut from Cassidy. If you ask about his past in the previous conversations with Finn and always choose the most friendly answers possible, you will get a chance to get a new cut from him. Moreover, this will later lead Finn to confess feelings to him that go beyond a friendship.

In the course of the story, you'll also get a kiss from Finn. In order to trigger this scenario, it is especially important to support him in his plan to rob Merrill. You can read more about this in this guide.

Rob Merrill & Get Tattoo

Finn has his soft and nice moments - in other moments he is ice cold and would use anything and anyone for his deeds. He plans to rob Merrill to arrange money for Sean and Daniel's onward journey.

Lyla and Sean in the first episode

    • Are you against crime, Finn seems disappointed and says goodbye to Sean with a handshake. He's going to miss him. After that, it's off to the party. There Cassidy offers Sean to stab him. Whether you choose the wolf or a surprise is up to you.
    • You can also agree at this point - an important waypoint, you're after a love connection between the two young men. Finn confesses to feeling a deep connection between him and Sean. If you reciprocate those feelings with your response, Finn will lean in to kiss Sean.

Swim and kiss Cassidy

At this point in the game at the latest, it will be clear to you that Cassidy has a thing for our hero Sean. First she cuts his hair, then she gives him a tattoo and finally she goes into the lake and asks Sean to come with her. You could block her completely at this point and let her swim alone - but who wants to do that? Slip out of your clothes and follow the young hipster girl into the water.

Here you have a direct opportunity to talk about the feelings and budding love story between the two. The young girl is very direct and asks Sean straight out if he likes her or not. If you want to achieve a kiss, you should answer "yes" and enjoy the romantic scene that somehow reminds a bit.

Your decisions also affect the relationship between Sean and Daniel in the second episode.

This is not the end of their story and love affair. If you are brave enough now, you can even give Sean a breathtaking night of love with Cassidy..

... or simply refuse her offer, stuttering slightly and embarrassed, before they part ways for the night.

Merrill threatens the teens

As Daniel and Finn go through with stealing from Merrill, Sean joins them. A discussion breaks out where you can decide whether to let them do it (and even help them do it) or still be completely against it.

  • If you forbid Daniel from doing the action and stealing the money, he gets pissed off. Sean's little brother just wants to help get the money so he can run away to Mexico. When Cassidy gets in the way, it becomes apparent that Daniel is jealous of his brother's new girlfriend and he uses his powers to lift her into the air.
  • If, on the other hand, you buckle and agree to go through with the action now, there is trouble with Cassidy. The young woman can't understand how Sean can do such a thing, insults him and wants nothing more to do with the protagonists. She disappears and the boys go in search of the money.

The teens are overheard in both scenarios by Merrill, who threatens them with a shotgun. He forces the teens all to their knees.

Achieve different endings

When Merrill wants to shoot one of the friends, you will have the last decision in this episode in front of you. At this point, try to stand up to him or obey the instructions. If you don't ask the boy to start the fight, the explosion will happen in the end anyway, because he won't listen to his brother and will knock the gun out of Merrill's hands with his powers.

  • Discussion is useless, because Merrill will simply knock Sean out. Daniel has been training though - is he ready to use his powers and save everyone? If you decide to do so, a fight will ensue.

Depending on previous decisions, Finn will be shot or survive the scenario because Daniel uses his power quickly enough and disarms Merrill.

  • If Cassidy is with you in this scene, Daniel will be shot. His body can't handle the strain and can't keep the powers in check. The entire room blows up and the third episode comes to an end.

Daniel uses his powers - how exactly, you determine with your decisions.

  • If you decide not to fight, Finn is also shot and Daniel gets angry. He blames Sean and especially Cassidy for what happened, because she changed him. In a fit of rage, he not only finishes off Merrill, but also hurts Cassidy on purpose.

Open the vault

Depending on your previous decisions, Merrill doesn't come directly to confront the guys. He may catch them only after Finn has the money in his hands thanks to Daniel's help. Besides the money, you will also find a pistol inside.

  • If you take the pistol, you will have the opportunity to shoot Merrill later in the episode.
  • If you don't shoot Merrill, the outcome and the survivors will depend on what you decide (as described in the last point).
  • On the other hand, if you shoot your boss, unfortunately he won't be dead right away and will aim his gun at Finn before pulling the trigger and putting a bullet in the young punk's body. Finn will die from it.
  • If you don't take it, it's the same as in "Merrill Threatens the Youths".
