Borderlands 3 Defeat Troy Calypso: The most important facts

Troy is waiting for you in the excavation site at the end of the main quest "The Great Chamber". Complete the quest to unlock the bronze trophy "Apocalypso!" and get 10 Gamerscore. Find out how to get all the trophies in Borderlands 3 in the linked guide.

The fight against Troy Calypso starts as soon as you jump down the shaft behind the vending machines. Fill up your ammo at the vending machines before the fight. You will fight him on a platform that offers you no protection from projectiles. The edge is unprotected and leads to the abyss. If you fall off, you will die.

The boss moves across the entire platform. You can expect an extremely difficult fight, as you'll be under constant magic fire and won't be able to take a breather. Unlike most bosses, Troy has no shield and faces you without armor in battle. Shock and corrosion weapons should be avoided for this reason, as they do too little damage.

Take a weapon that deals radiation damage . This elemental effect is especially effective against Troy. We have collected all the information about the elemental effects in our Borderlands 3 tips guide. Equip weapons with which you'll be able to hit at short and medium distances. Pistols, SMGs and shotguns are suitable for combat.

Troy regularly recharges his energy at Tyreen. Meanwhile, he is immune to attacks and additional enemies appear that have little life. Try to ignore them and kill them only when they cause problems. They are your life insurance in case you go down. A kill would give you a second chance and revive you.

How to survive the fight against Troy Calypso in Borderlands 3

Troy's main attacks are his energy balls, which threaten you vertically and horizontally. The higher their distance traveled, the greater the distances between the energy balls. You'll have to keep a lot of safe distance from Troy to get through the gaps of the energy balls untouched. His regeneration phases initiate a new combat phase, but even during that you won't be able to rest.

He makes some parts of the ground glow, which you must avoid at all costs. Otherwise, you'll take massive fire damage from rising columns of flame. Also, a large sphere appears in the center, releasing a laser beam on four crates at the edge. Fire one shot at each crate to interrupt its regeneration. In phase 2, he will attack you in a recurring pattern in melee combat.

He charges at you in flight and creates a pillar of flame at your position. Then he jumps away and casts energy balls. Get as far away as possible as quickly as possible to dodge. He repeats this attack combination until phase 3. Then another physical attack is added: his sword made of stacked stones. He teleports to the center of the platform, extends his sword upward, and picks up debris from the environment that extends his sword.

After briefly channeling, he attacks and destroys his stony sword extension with a heavy blow to the ground. Dodge far to the left or right to avoid taking damage. In the final stage, he combines all the attacks from the previous stages, attacking faster and dealing extra damage on hits.
