Borderlands 3 Defeat Agonizer 9000: The most important facts
At the end of the main quest "Blood Donation" you will meet the bandits Pain & Terror, who will go into battle with their killing machine Agonizer 9000. By completing the quest, you unlock the trophy "Beat the Streamers" and rescue Tannis from the clutches of the boss duo. We'll also tell you how to unlock all the trophies in Borderlands 3.
To start the boss fight, press the three switches on the elevator. This will take you to the main stage, where the fight begins immediately after entering the arena. In the previous area you will find some chests where you can replenish ammunition and health points. The killing machine stays permanently in the center and only turns on the spot.
It has a strong armor and a core of Eridium. Choose weapons with medium range, with which you'll be able to hit without zooming. An SMG is the perfect choice. Your weapon should fire corrosion projectiles , as they are very effective against strong armor. The killing machine gets support from bandits that enter the arena at irregular intervals. Due to their low health points, they are of use to you when you get knocked down and fight for your life. Then switch to your best weapon and try to kill a bandit to get a second chance. Otherwise, ignore them and fight them only when you are pressed or need ammo.
How to survive the fight against the boss duo Pain & Terror in Borderlands 3
One of the main attacks is similar to Mouthpiece's terrain attack from the beginning of the campaign. Once the arena floor lights up, flames will rise from the ground shortly after. Sprint to an unlit spot on the ground to escape unharmed .
To detect this attack in time, avoid using the weapon zoom. Otherwise, it will be more difficult to dodge. Another attack is the all-around strike with rotating blades. In this attack, the boss extends his blade blades and rotates once around his axis.
Initially, he runs his blades close to the ground. Jump up at the right moment to dodge. As the fight progresses, he modifies this attack and rotates his blades at head level. By ducking in time, you will be spared. Other attacks that you can easily dodge, however, are as follows:
- Several rotating blades that move from the center in a straight line to the edge.
- A violent large-scale strike on the arena floor.
- A shield attack designed to crush you from above with its spikes.
With a little practice, you'll manage to continuously attack and dodge Agonizer 9000. His eyes and red armor pieces are his weak points. Hit them to deal increased damage and guaranteed critical hits. On his back, it is the biggest weak spot that you can easily hit.
More tips for the boss fight against Agonizer 9000
- Agonizer 9000 is at level 31, so we recommend at least level 29 for the fight.
- FL4K's Skag and Spiderant can't get to the boss and are very vulnerable to the sweeping blow of his blades. Use the Jabber, as it attacks from a distance.
- Once the boss armor is destroyed, his eridium core lights up purple. His attacks cause enormous damage at this stage. Then switch to the best weapon and put him under continuous fire to cause as much damage as possible.
- After destroying the Agonizer 9000, Pain and Terror will fall out of the machine. They won't attack you and only have one health point.
- By moving in circles, you'll avoid most of the hits.
- Unlike in previous battles, there are no ammo boxes in the arena. Be sure to replenish your ammo supply before the fight.
